Dream Trip To Macau

Ohai!

Uhhh, just realized its been a month since I last update because.... I'm kinda busy these days and I keep procrastinating to blog, but now I'm back again! So yeah..... um the other day while I was just browsing through nuffnang's page for free movie screening passes, and I stumble upon this.

An all expenses paid trip to Macau ?! I've seen many other contests' grand prize are usually all expenses paid trip but c'mon, what are the chances for me to stand a chance to win that grand prize?  But lucky thing in this contest, Nuffnang and Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) is sending off 3 nuffnangers instead of 1, so the chances are higher for everyone! Heh. And most importantly we don't even have to spend a single penny to enter this contest! :D

Umm, I might be a little bit rusty starting this post, so I've read a few entries from other bloggers to have a rough idea about what to sketch in this blogpost as well as to play safe in case of any plagiarism of blog content.

So to start it off, I've got a story to tell about "my trip to Macau". I've previously booked my ticket to Macau in January to reward myself for finally finishing my degree and to take a breather before starting my job in an architecture firm, and also to visit my friend who is currently studying in Macau (so that I can save alot for accommodation and free tour guide.)

But believe it or not, the results just had to release a week before my departure date and I totally had a break down when I saw one of my subjects that I HAD TO RESUBMIT my studio presentation board (which for your info is on the day my departure date -.- )or else I would have to re-sit my final year. I mean, I couldn't believe it la, I've been working so hard for the final semester and all, even my own lecturers had high hopes on me, but I just couldn't believe I had to resubmit my work after moderation. NEVER in my WHOLE UNI LIFE I've failed or had to resubmit/retake any subjects.

And in architecture course, NO ONE WANTS to retake because the mental and physical torture is just too much! Imagine I have to go through all the torturous nights of average few hours of sleep PER DAY and non stop sketching and researching for concept ideas. Just the thought of it now is still giving me goosebumps and I can't believe its still not the end for me since I will have to continue my masters in UK next Sept, fml.

So long story short, in the end I couldnt risk failing my final sem that would pull down my entire CGPA, so I've decided burn my ticket.

Here's a printscreen to actually proved that I've bought my burnt ticket to Macau.

Since another opportunity had came knocking on the door, I am willing to take chances. I'm glad that I've sacrifice my ticket in exchange for my convocation day else I think I would be crying retaking the subjects while everyone is happily graduating, so I think is extremely worth it lo.

Ok, I think I've been blabbering too much non-sense so jumping into the main topic, the three most amazing things that I makes me wanna visit Macau :

1. Experiencing the local culture

Having a career as an architect, getting exposed through travelling and understanding different culture around the globe is part of our job. You may ask why? Reason being to understand the surroundings and the user's culture will help aid us in providing solutions to end user's necessity. So yeah, I'm quite curious what is it like to have both mixtures of eastern and western culture.

2. Architecture

Living up to the title as an architecture student, architecture is definitely in the picture! Uh, I guess I'm pretty sure that the courtesy of other bloggers have already explained most of the buildings that I've listed in this image to name a few.

So what really attracts me the most is this futuristic looking building (the Macau science museum) that sits on an island, considering that Macau is mostly built up with historical ruins and buildings as well as casinos.

I think its a great place to visit since its a less touristy place and I've heard from my friend that it was designed by the same architect that design HK's china bank building.

The infamous HK china bank building (in case you're wondering)

And of course, I really dont think I would miss out the casinos since I'm finally legal to enter (and Vegas is so far far far away) oh, my friend told me that the locals would usually visit the Kuan Yin statue that is located quite near to the science museum for luck.

3. Sight Seeing

I'm pretty amazed that Macau has all the replicas around the world. At least it saved me some money before I start travelling to the originals. Rome's Colosseum, Amsterdam, Venice and Macau's Statue of Liberty? Btw I also heard from my friend that they're opening a Parisian casino that has an replica of the Eiffel Tower?

Resembles a little bit of the Statue of Liberty but
at least it's the original from Macau (Kun Iam Ecumenical Center)

The Parisian casino with the Eiffel Tower in case
you're wondering

Definitely not missing out the fountain show too! I've seen the one in Spore, so I hope the one in Macau doesn't disappoints me.

Last but not least, living off as a Malaysian, how can local foods be out of the picture? I guess it needs no more introductions since many of the other bloggers have already introduced them.

Btw, I won't even need to worry where to find them cuz.... Thanks to this blog, Places to eat in Macau, I've got them covered!
So, I'm not really sure what my chances are among the other bloggers, but I hope this blog post is interesting enough to win me this trip (haha, cuz this might be my last trip before entering back to work in architecture field and then furthering studies in UK.)

I would also like give a to shout out to Macau Government Toursit Office (MGTO) and  Nuffnang Malaysia many many thanks for giving us this opportunity to enter the contest, and most importantly entering without purchasing or paying a single penny/product!

*fingers crossed for winning this trip!*
